Unlike other youth class boats, only the top sailors from each country can attend the World Championships and the Junior European Championships each year. Only those selected can participate.
Each country is given an allocation of the number of boats by the International 420 Class Association. We are waiting for the final NoR’s be published but understand that the places available will most probably be as follows:16 pairings plus 2 possible U15 pairings for the Junior Europeans, and 25 pairings plus 2 possible U15 pairings for the World Championships.
In 2026 the events are as follows:
- World Championships Centre Nautique Biscarosse, France - no age restriction (3rd– 11thJuly 2026) possible training on 1st and 2nd TBC
- Junior Europeans Nida, Lithuania.- U17, U19 and u22 (20th– 27thJuly 2026) possible training 18th and 19th TBC
The Selection Series will consist of the following Qualifiers:
(1) Q1 Winter Championships – 7/8 February 2026, Draycote Water
(2) Q2 Inland Championships – 21/22 March 2026, Rutland Sailing Club
(3) Q3 RYA Youth Nationals – 7–10 April 2026, Hayling Island Sailing Club
Application for 2026 Summer Teams
All teams wishing to be considered for selection for either of the Summer 2026 teams MUST complete the attached form in line with the relevant Selection Policy and take part in the Selection events in line with the relevant Selection Policy.
PLEASE NOTE: Entries should have been submitted by the end of Qualifier 2 (Rutland 21st/22nd March 2026)

Selection Committee
The Class has an independent Selection Committee who are responsible for writing the relevant Selection Policies and selecting the teams from the relevant events. The current members of the Selection Committee are:
