From the International Sailing Secretary:
The Selectors are finalising the Selection Policy but in order for you to plan ahead, there are two major international events this summer:
The Junior Euros to be held in Lisbon 3 – 11 July.
This will be a team of ten boats with 3 coaches and hopefully house parents with arranged transport, depending on volunteers, and a team hotel has been booked.
The Worlds will be held in Newport 7 – 15 August.
Sailors will have to arrange their own flights and accommodation. There will be at least 3 coaches available if we send a full squad and the Class will assist with boat transport etc.
Other International events include:
Kiel 23-25 June
The French Nationals, after the Euros
The Youth World Championships which will be in Texas, qualification for this event is the Youth Nationals.
The Selection Series for the Euros and the Worlds will include the Springs at Torbay 10-11th March, the Inlands at Rutland 17-18 March and the Youth Nationals 30 March – 6 April in Largs.
The series will be combined and discards assigned as dictated by the RYA for the Youths and one discard for the Springs and Inlands once 4 races have been completed.
We are working on a budget which will be available as soon as practical but before the start of the Youth Nationals.
I hope this helps, any questions please email:
