The team will travel independently and arrange their own flights and transfers. The Class will endeavour to co-ordinate. Sailors are expected to have arrived for training by 20 July. All sailors will stay in the nominated hotel, with volunteer houseparents. Breakfast is included. House Parents will co-ordinate evening meals. The Class will assist with co–ordination of the event and logistics for boat transport. All entries will be made by the Class. All participants are required to display their country flag on the mainsail – these will be supplied by the Class. Sailors will be required to wear team kit as appropriate. Suggested flights to be posted.
The following accommodation has been reserved:
20 sailors, 2 houseparents, 3 coaches
Full payment is due as per the selection notice and below (The total cost for each sailor is likely to be about £1,100 excluding non-breakfast food, flights and transfers. This includes kit, coaches, RIBs, entry fee, accommodation and boat transport). A deposit of £250 per sailor is required by Wednesday 24th April 2019. We are seeking sponsorship to reduce this cost.
Independent fly or drive to Closest airports to Vilagarcía de Arousa: 1. Vigo–Peinador Airport (26.2 miles / 42.1 kilometers). 2. Santiago de Compostela Airport (27.3 miles / 43.9 kilometers).
From experience sailors have found it easier and cheaper to book from their airport of choice rather than insisting everyone departs, for example, from Heathrow. The Class will suggest some flights in due course and co-ordinate a spreadsheet of everyone’s flights in order to group transfers.
This will be coordinated by the Class with volunteer drivers for group trailers and RIBs.
The sailors will be provided with three coaches.
