Report from Fremantle – Day 2

GBR 420 Class Class matters, Event Reports, International events

Team GBR are still getting into the rhythm of Fremantle today with some solid performances. Temperature is hot, over 30 degrees C and so sailors are working hard to keep hydrated and protected from the sun.

On the racecourse the chop is heavy and deceives to make it appear that there is more breeze than there really is. Wind conditions are also tricky with 14 knots on the starboard side of the course with 5 knots on the other – going the right way is making a lot of difference. In such bright sunlight the pressure looks different on the water so today was great learning and sailors are putting it together.

No top 10s yet as sailors adjust to conditions, but our boat speed is good so it’s all looking rosie for the Worlds.

A good bunch of GBR sailors made Gold fleet with Izzy Davies and Gemma Kiers going best overall. Neil and Martin, the coaches, are pushing the sailors more and training starts a couple of hours early tomorrow before the last day of this event.
