You may be aware that the International 420 Class Association has removed the team quota restrictions for the 2017 World Championships in Freemantle. In addition, they have brought forward the deadline for container shipping, a result of which is that the GBR Class have to commit to ordering shipping containers on by Thursday 21 September.
As a result, the Selectors and the Class have taken the decision to invite any team who wish to compete at the Freemantle Worlds to enter, via the Class international Sailing Secretary – Linda Keers, email@example.com.
Entries must be received by Linda Keers asap but at the latest Thursday 28 September.
The 2017 Autumn Championships will no longer be a Selector for the Freemantle World Championships, but will remain as a Winter Squad Selection Trial.
Costs will be dependent on the total number of boats confirming – but should be in the region of £1,200 per sailor for boat transport, coaching and entry fees only. You will be responsible for arranging your own flights, accommodation, and any other expenses. This will not be a “Team” event, and there will be no Houseparents.
It is envisaged that boats will load into containers early October 2017, and return to the UK at the end of February 2018.
As per our original Selection Notice, a deposit of £1,000.00 per sailor will be required to be paid on or before 6pm on 4th October 2017, with any balance to be paid on Friday 3rd November 2017.
