The 2018 420 Class National Championships will be held at Brightlingsea Sailing Club from 25th-28th August.
The draft plan (all TBC) looks like this:
|Saturday 25th August||Registration, practice race (Race 1 if time)||Welcome Party|
|Sunday 26th August||Max 4 races||TBC|
|Monday 27th August||Max 4 races||Black Tie Dinner|
|Tuesday 28th August||Max 3 races||Prize giving after racing|
Note that this will be a ten race series with one discard. The maximum race numbers each day are to allow for variations in the weather.
The dates have been adjusted to provide the best compromise between a potential clash with return travel from the World Championships in USA and sixth-form inductions/those schools which begin their Autumn Term in late August.
The class will be providing coaching support throughout the event so that, once again, it will suit those new to the class as well as experienced 420 sailors.
Brightlingsea SC is a leading east coast club with a long history of running major championships. The racing area is the Colne/Blackwater estuary, which offers the ideal conditions for the class.
The local area is popular with holidaymakers so there is good availability of accommodation including a campsite next door to the club. More details from the club website: http://www.sailbrightlingsea.com/
The NOR and final schedule will be published on the class website early in 2018.
