Optimist Chair of Selectors

GBR 420 Class Class matters

After years of selfless service the Optimist class owes a great deal of thanks to Steph Banham for all her work as IOCA Chair of Selectors. She has decided now is the time to lay down her spreadsheets.

We are opening the process to appoint a new Chair of Selectors. This is a rewarding role, helping to advise sailors and parents whilst being the independent voice of reason across all selection issues. Steph is keen to work with the incoming volunteer Chair to ensure a smooth handover.

Call for Expressions of Interest

This is a great role for an ex-Optimist parent. To ensure their impartiality applicants must have no close relationship to current Optimist sailors. Ideally they will have had experience of the class and how it works at all levels. The Selector contributes to the process of allocation of places to Selective events and supports the training programme of the class. It is a key role in the development of sailors and a great way to stay in touch with the Class and put something back into Optimist sailing in the UK.

If you are interested or can think of anyone suitable please get in touch. Contact admin@optimist.org.uk for a full description of the role. Applications will close on the 17/03/2017
